The Phoenix Suns will be able to showcase their newly constructed roster tomorrow on October 7 when they participate in their first preseason game. The Suns host the Sacramento Kings at the US Airways Center in the first of their six-game slate.
The Suns are trying to find their way with third-year head coach Jeff Hornacek, whose team took a big step back last season after an injury-plagued campaign ended with a trade that sent away a major cog in their offense, Goran Dragic. After the trade, the Suns couldn’t mesh together in time to reach the playoffs, something the organization is looking to accomplish for the first time in five seasons.
The Suns will have a full season of Brandon Knight and Eric Bledsoe in the backcourt, to go with Archie Goodin, P.J. Tucker, T.J. Warren and lottery pick Devin Booker from Kentucky filling in the guard and wing roles. Markieff Morris, newly acquired Mirza Teletovic and Jon Leuer will fill the forward roles, with their top free agent signing Tyson Chandler at center, backed up by former lottery pick Alex Len.
Although Phoenix seems to be moving away from the three-guard attack that led the franchise to a 48-win season (but no playoffs) only a couple of years ago, it may be one of the more complete teams Hornacek has assembled since his arrival.
The season opener is just over three weeks away, when the Suns host the Dallas Mavericks on October 28 at the US Airways Center. According to SeatSmart.com, secondary market Suns tickets have an average price of $101.93 and a get-in price of $13.
On the season as a whole, the two most expensive Suns games come against the defending champion Golden State Warriors on the road at Oracle Arena in December and March. The most expensive of the two games is on March 12, having an average ticket price of $909.59 and a get-in price of $87, while the December 16 showdown features an average price of $693.78 with a get-in of $69.
The third most expensive game of the campaign is also the Suns’ priciest game at home, when LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Love, and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers invade the desert looking for a win at the end of the calendar year. The two teams meet on December 28, when the average ticket price is $289.58 with a get-in price of $32 for entrance into the US Airways Center.
As for the club’s second most expensive game at home this season, that occurs on November 27 against — who else? — the Warriors. Tickets to see Golden State and Phoenix clash in a probable high-scoring affair average $233.93 on the secondary market, while the get-in price currently sits at $42.
