Suns Schedule: The Week That Will Be: Mar 16-22

The Suns get a much needed break this week, not suiting up again until Thursday.  It’s much needed because two starters – Alex Len and Brandon Knight – remain out due to injured ankles and still might not be ready to go come Thursday.  But once Phoenix does hit the court again on Thursday, they face a pivotal test – New Orleans, who remains ahead of them in their desperate playoff bid.

Thurs, Mar 19th vs New Orleans

Calling this game a must-win for the Suns might be a bit misleading – if they win it chances are still against them not making the playoffs.  But if they drop a home game against New Orleans, a team they are chasing in the standings, then any little hope they have of making the playoff cut are pretty much dashed.  The Pelicans remain a one-man show (especially with Jrue Holiday and Ryan Anderson currently on the shelf), but that one man (Anthony Davis, of course) is insanely formidable.  Hopefully Alex Len will be recovered enough to return to try to help stop The Brow.

Sat, Mar 21st at Houston

The going doesn’t get any easier for Phoenix two nights later, as they head to the Toyota Center to face the formidable Rockets, who are 24-9 at home.  Dwight Howard remains out for Houston, and probably won’t be suiting up versus Phoenix, but they still have MVP candidate James Harden, who is playing magnificent.

Sun, Mar 22nd vs Dallas

A quick turnaround, and another tough opponent for Phoenix.  Dallas is solid all over, with no one player really standing out as the team’s star, and Dirk Nowitzki is playing less than 30 minutes a game, the only time he’s averaged that few minutes since his rookie campaign in 1998/99.  This will be the first time the Suns see Amar’e Stoudemire up close and personal in a Mavericks uniform.  A real tough week for Phoenix closes with a tough game.

Projected record for the week: 1-2
