Another Phoenix Suns season has come to a close, prematurely once more.  Time to debrief and recap how all 14 players currently on the team’s roster fared during the 2014/15 season.  This is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on T.J. Warren

2014/15 Phoenix Stats: 40 games, 15.4 mpg, 6.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 0.6 apg, 0.5 spg, 0.2 bpg, 0.7 topg, 52.8% FG, 23.8% 3Pts, 73.7% FT

(bolded stats indicate team leader)

Contract Status: $1,953,120 for 15/16, $2,041,080 for 16/17, team option for 16/17 & 17/18, restricted free agent in 18/19

The Good

– played three positions on the floor
– only 21 years old
– played well off the ball cutting to the hoop
– good at getting “garbage” baskets
– got better as the season progressed
– outperformed draft slot (ranked 9th in Win Shares for his draft class – drafted 14th)
– under contract to the Suns for probably the next five seasons (and at a cheap rate)

The Bad

– still very inconsistent
– poor three point shooter

The Ugly

– was inactive for more games than he actually played in

Conclusion

The future could be bright for T.J. Warren in the Valley.  While he doesn’t appear to be on the fast track to superstardom, he showed enough during his rookie campaign to project to be a solid NBA contributor.
