Another Phoenix Suns season has come to a close, prematurely once more.  Time to debrief and recap how all 14 players currently on the team’s roster fared during the 2014/15 season.  This is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on P.J. Tucker

2014/15 Phoenix Stats: 78 games, 30.6 mpg, 9.1 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.4 spg, 0.3 bpg, 1.2 topg, 2.3 PF/game, 43.8% FG, 34.5 % 3Pts, 72.7% FT

(bolded stats indicate team leader)

Contract Status: $5,500,000 for 15/16, $5,300,000 in 16/17 (only $1,500,000 guaranteed if waived before June 30, 2016)

The Good

– fantastic rebounder for his position – second on the team
– brings toughness and grit to the team
– good defender
– played well as both a starter & off the bench
– capable of raining down the 3’s
– had a hot stretch during the middle of the season
– played minutes at three positions on the floor

The Bad

– can be a knucklehead, on and off the court
– eight technical fouls on the season
– very inefficient scorer – only 9 points scored on 8 shots per game
– will be turning 30 soon
– not a huge scorer
– didn’t really provide the veteran leadership the team needed

The Ugly

– suspended for first three games of the season due to his super-extreme DUI conviction

Conclusion

You can’t really quibble over the season P.J. Tucker had – it was pretty much a carbon copy of 13/14.  He should be able to provide grit, rebounding, and three-point shooting throughout the remainder of his Suns contract.
