Another Phoenix Suns season has come to a close, prematurely once more.  Time to debrief and recap how all 14 players currently on the team’s roster fared during the 2014/15 season.  This is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Marcus Morris

2014/15 Phoenix Stats: 81 games, 25.2 mpg, 10.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, 0.8 spg, 0.2 bpg, 0.9 topg, 2.3 PF/game, 43.4% FG, 35.8 % 3Pts, 62.8% FT

(bolded stats indicate team leader)

Contract Status: $5,000,000 for 15/16, $4,625,000 in 16/17, $5,000,000 in 17/18, $5,375,000 in 18/19

The Good

– saw time at three positions on the court
– played most minutes of bench players on the team
– versatile scorer
– second on the team in three’s made
– got better near the end of the year
– brings some toughness to the court
– on a very affordable contract for years to come

The Bad

– can be a knucklehead, on and off the court
– nine technical fouls on the season
– turns the ball over too much – 8.2% turnover rate 13th worst in NBA
– very inefficient scorer – only 10 points scored on 9 shots per game
– game took a step back last season – worse year than in 13/14
– very inconsistent

The Ugly

– charged with felony aggravated assault
– yelled in Coach Hornacek’s face during the season

Conclusion

Mook had flashes of brilliance this past season, but it happened far too often.  Add in his knuckleheadedness and off the court legal issues, and he’s becoming more of a liability than an asset for the team.
