Another Phoenix Suns season has come to a close, prematurely once more.  Time to debrief and recap how all 14 players currently on the team’s roster fared during the 2014/15 season.  This is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Archie Goodwin

2014/15 Phoenix Stats: 41 games, 13.0 mpg, 5.6 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 1.1 apg, 0.4 spg, 0.2 bpg, 1.2 topg, 39.3% FG, 29.3% 3Pts, 73.5% FT

(bolded stats indicate team leader)

Contract Status: $1,160,160 for 15/16, team option for 16/17, restricted free agent for 17/18

The Good

– played three positions on the floor
– great size when he plays point guard
– only 20 years old
– great athleticism
– showed flashes (18 points, 3 boards, 3 assists in final game of season)
– still quite a bit of potential/upside
– still on a very cheap rookie contract

The Bad

– still very inconsistent
– didn’t show much (or any) progress from rookie campaign
– horrible shooting year
– shot 20%(!!!) from 3-10 feet
– more turnovers than assists for the year

The Ugly

– complained about his “role” on the team

Conclusion

Archie Goodwin didn’t show the great leap from Year 1 to  Year 2 that many Suns fans were hoping for.  He’s young and full of potential, but he’s still not ready to be a major impact player.
