Another Phoenix Suns season has come to a close, prematurely once more. Time to debrief and recap how all 14 players currently on the team’s roster fared during the 2014/15 season. This is The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Alex Len
2014/15 Phoenix Stats: 69 games, 22.0 mpg, 6.3 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 0.5 apg, 0.5 spg, 1.5 bpg, 1.1 topg, 3.1 PF/game, 50.7% FG, 70.2% FT, 105 blocks, 142 Offensive Rebounds
(bolded stats indicate team leader)
Contract Status: $3,807,120 for 15/16, team option for 16/17, qualifying offer for 17/18
The Good
– led the team in blocks & rebounds per game (despite being only 8th in minutes per game)
– game took a huge leap from his rookie year
– very good shotblocker – top 20 in the league for blocks, 5th best block % in NBA
– solid rebounder, especially on the offensive end
– missed far less games for injury than his rookie year
– still only 21 (soon-to-be 22)
– under the Suns control on an affordable rookie contract for years to come
The Bad
– led team in fouls
– still a work in progress on the offensive end
– probably has limited upside – never going to be a superstar
– still doesn’t shoot for a high enough % for a big man
– inconsistent
The Ugly
– continues to be injury prone
Conclusion
Suns fans (and management) have to be thrilled with the progress of Alex Len this past season. He looked, at most times, like a bonafide NBA big man. Now if he could only stay healthy for a full season.
